The Role


We are looking for an experienced Technical Design Manager to join our team. The role requires an enthusiastic, problem solving and motivated person capable of working collaboratively and on their own in a fast-paced environment.

01  Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor the Technical Design team, ensuring efficient planning training, and high-quality work output & team efficiency. 
- Empower team members to proactively identify and resolve issues, promoting a culture of problem-solving and innovation.
- Assist team members in their professional development, providing guidance and support for their growth.
- Ensure team members are effectively managing their time on projects, working with them to combat any obstacles that may have an effect on project lead times.
- Manage the teams workload day to day, book in new projects estimating how long this will take and allocate to right person within the team.

02 Knowledge

- Ensure team members are effectively managing their time on projects, working with them to combat any obstacles that may have an effect on project lead times.
- Manage the teams workload day to day, book in new projects estimating how long this will take and allocate to right person within the team.
- Create technical drawings and production presentations using Solidworks for the production team. This would include liaising closely with the factory and Project Managers.
- Attend project briefing meetings to assess project details, capacity and timings
- Responsible for organising and maintaining own diary dates and jobs.
- Carry out and organise site surveys and communicate the outcome to the relevant contact.
- Attend regular development meetings
- Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process
- Make revisions to models as requested
- Keep up to date on all modern advancement in material and software technologies
- Pursue ongoing education in the field

03 Experience

- A recognised technical design qualification.
- A minimum of five years of working experience in a technical design position in the retail interiors sector.
- Strong experience and leadership in managing a teams.
- Possess practical knowledge of how to execute design intent including an in-depth understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Possess a proactive approach to leading design work within the factory and communicating with relevant departments throughout the design and building work processes.
- Proficient in: Solidworks
- Experience of juggling multiple projects at once to tight deadlines
- Ability to work with ever-changing priorities.
- Strong organisational skills.
