To lead the development of the inhouse production facility and take responsibility for inhouse development projects (from prototypes to custom projects). Providing a one stop shop for all prototype demands where joinery is a key element and be the ambassador for internal prototype development.

01  Responsibilities

- Attend inhouse briefing sessions called by Account Management, Project Management and/or Design Managers to ensure internal prototype and bespoke project demands are fully understood and agreed. Agree milestones and all internal meeting dates.
- Agree the full process with the department heads of the Model shop and the Assembly department and set expectations to ensure there is no ambiguity with regards to the finishing, assembly, and presentation of the final prototype.
- Work alongside Design Managers, and project managers, to provide clients with a range of material samples, leading the inhouse team to material approvals in line with the project plan.
- Working alongside colleagues in the model shop, provide cost estimates for the production of the bespoke retail fixtures, covering all inhouse and subcontracted costs.
- Support operational internal teams (estimating and Modelshop) with engineering support at a level to "get the job done".
- Lead the design for manufacturing process for the inhouse bespoke projects, covering:
- Production of drawings to a level to suit the manufacturing partner's needs.
- Compliance drawing packs and associated data sheets to suit the client's needs.
- Leading the approval process with the brands.
- Leading the approval process with the retailers.
- Ensuring the design and execution of the solution is 'fit for purpose', including for display in the retail environment.
- Providing recommendations and potential design changes to reflect a more efficient manufacturing process.
- To advise on risk assessments of each project and their possible impact.
- Engaging the highlight report process, communicate costs, timings, and project progress to internal teams to ensure there are no surprises, and that all relevant parties have the latest project status.
- Take responsibility for the ordering of everything needed to complete the prototype or bespoke fixture set, accepting there is resource in place to support with raising purchase orders.
- Utilizing Smartsheet, ensure that all costs (including material and labour) are recorded, all purchase orders documented and all production (internal and external) has a Quality Control plan to ensure parts are made on time, on budget and on specification.
- Visit external suppliers as appropriate to support the successful design and execution of the project.
- Produce an inhouse production plan, with key milestones, to provide clarity to all parties on how the team will deliver the project on-time, utilizing Smartsheet as appropriate.
- Report back to the internal stakeholders at project close a lessons log and final budget summary.
- Liaise with and drive external suppliers to ensure the delivery date is met.
- Attend relevant client meetings to support the Account Managers.
- Communicate all relevant model shop manufacturing information to the nominated Account Manager, Project Manager and/or Design Manager.
- Develop the Modelshop CNC capabilities and develop the CNC operator from an engineering perspective.
- Own, control and manage the internal prototype presentation space in Unit 1. Ensuring internal management teams take responsibility for booking, removing and correctly storing / disposing of all equipment.
- Provide development support to the inhouse production team as required.
- Provide manufacturing support to the inhouse production team as required.
- Provide development and engineering support to the Design Development team as required.
- Lead the inhouse 3D print requirements, from estimating of costs and lead-time through the print process, to successful review of parts.
- Lead the design development of the electrical requirements of the retail displays, from wiring diagrams to hardware specifications, ensuring that the unit is fully compliant with applicable regulations and the clients specific needs.
- Conduct site surveys of prospective locations, to ensure the site-specific variables are captured within our design solutions.
- Support with snagging resolution including on-site visits.
